In addition to being the most wonderful time of the year, winter is also one of the most fascinating times of the year. It’s the season where snow is most likely to fall.

Snow in itself is an intriguing thing because you can produce a lot of snow from a little water. Unfortunately, snow only forms in freezing temperatures, and there’s no shortage of that in the winter.

Most houses come equipped with an HVAC system to provide winter heating. A lot of people have trouble with these, though, and some problems are more common than others. We’ll talk about some of the most common in this article.

1. Uneven Heating

It’s not uncommon to have issues with certain rooms failing to warm up. In truth, there could be many causes for this, and many of them require professional expertise. However, it could also be something simple, like a clogged filter.

You may also want to check the air vents themselves. Many people move furniture or other objects over or in front of them without giving it too much thought.

The problem is that these block the air coming out of the vent and could potentially harm the furniture as well. Objects placed in front of heating vents are exposed to several elements, including air and any moisture that might be in the vent shafts.

Moist furniture can attract mildew and mold. If you don’t keep your air vents clear of blockages, winter heating may be the least of your problems.

2. The Air Won’t Warm Up

Sometimes, we fool with the thermostat for a while and still can’t get warm air to come out of the vents. There could be a number of causes for this. Your power may be out, the pilot light may be off, or it may just be that the furnace hasn’t been turned on yet.

There is a possibility that the problem is more serious. If you’ve checked to make sure everything is on, and your power is working, you should call a professional.

If you start to get unusually tired, dizzy, confused, or sick, get out of the house and call 911. There may be a carbon monoxide leak, and prolonged exposure to carbon monoxide can be fatal.

3. Lack of Maintenance

With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it can be easy to forget various things, and one of the things we don’t think about that often is our HVAC system. Aside from the vents, we don’t see much of it, so it’s easy to forget that it’s there

The good news is that you don’t need to worry about it all that much. Usually, it’s enough to have your system checked once per year.
